On the same day, Variety published a report of dozens of interviews with NBC employees about Lauer's alleged behavior, including interviews with three women who alleged they had been sexually harassed by the former anchor. She told the Post Brokaw put her hands against his chest, pulled her closer and then invited her to later come to his office.
Vester said the following year in New York, Brokaw sent her suggestive computer messages in the office before later announcing on the phone that he was coming to her hotel room.
Curry said there was no mention of the incident in Lauer's personnel file, and went on to say there was "pervasive verbal sexual harassment at NBC" while she was at the network.
Brokaw said that the accuser, Linda Vester, often sought him out on informal meetings, including the one she described in her NY hotel room. "However, I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false".
She told Variety that despite not being at fault, she "suffered years of humiliation and isolation" from the incidents. "He was the most powerful man at the network, and I was the most junior person", she said. "But as I write this at dawn on the morning after a drive-by shooting by Vester, the Washington Post and Variety I am stunned by the free ride given a woman with a grudge against NBC News, no distinctive credentials or issue passions while at Fox", Brokaw wrote.
