Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk will headline a town-hall style meeting in Brentwood on Thursday, May 17, where the public will have the opportunity to ask the visionary himself about his plans to build a futuristic, all-electric transit system underneath Los Angeles.
Musk confessed that The Boring Company, which was created as an infrastructure and tunnel firm, faced "delivery challenges" when it came to shipping the devices loaded with propane but claimed to have found a solution by delivering the products in Boring Company delivery vans.
The pods will be able to carry 16 passengers at a time and will be accessible from street level.
The idea is for the vehicles to offer a service somewhere between riding a subway and traveling in a private auto - and for just $1 (R12.50), passengers could reach downtown LA from its worldwide airport in under 10 minutes. "You can't fly the quietest helicopters through neighborhoods without bothering people", Musk said.
The Boring Co. has already cleared some regulatory hurdles for the tunnel along Sepulveda Boulevard, which would connect with a two-mile test track that's under construction in Hawthorne across from SpaceX headquarters. It has been billed as an opportunity to learn about Musk's "vision to alleviate soul-destroying traffic through Loop, a zero-emissions, high-speed, underground public transportation system!"

But she also had a warning for these women: "they still want to pay you the exploitative salary they paid you before". "If it's centered around my name, to get investors, then we can use that attention for a raft of female projects".
The Boring Company's angle has always been to make tunnel digging more efficient, and Musk has purchased a second-hand machine for his company to study, which has been christened "Godot".
Musk and The Boring Company caught social media and the tech world early this year and when it began selling flamethrowers emblazoned with its logo.
"I like the fact that brilliant guys are driving around Los Angeles trying to figure out how to make things better", said John Given, a lawyer representing the groups, referring to Musk's gridlock-inspired idea for tunnels.
"Once we're done, in order to get public feedback, we want to offer free rides sort of like a weird little Disney ride in the middle of LA", Musk said. Musk "envisions dozens to hundreds of small stations, about the size of a single or double auto parking spot, to alleviate traffic at any one spot". Musk commented, "we're not suggesting this to the exclusion of other approaches".
