Alas, justice prevailed, and Gotham has been renewed for Season 5. Fans of Fox are thrilled to know that Gotham is indeed going to return, but they will have to be prepared for the fifth season to be its last.

While previous seasons ran for 22 episodes each, Gotham's fifth will be a shortened 13-episode run scheduled to debut midway through the 2018-2019 TV season. FOX dropped Lucifer like a hot potato, surprising everyone, andLucifer's numbers are a lot better than Gotham's are. Gotham now has 86 episodes under its belt, and the season 4 finale will make it 87. Ben McKenzie stars on the series, which revolves around a young Bruce Wayne. Head to our season finale rundown to see when the remaining big endings are airing, and then hop to our summer premiere schedule to see what shows will be premiering when "No Man's Land" is but a distant memory. Tonight, Fox issued a last-minute renewal to the Batman origin story in a way that should be very much epic. "Gotham" is based on DC Comics characters. Seann William Scott to star in 'Lethal Weapon' Season 3
FOX has made a decision to renew its action drama series Lethal Weapon for a third season, but it's not exactly that cut and dry. Lethal Weapon has gone from being in serious jeopardy to scoring a surprise season three renewal thanks to a shrewd re-casting.

The renewal is a little bit of a surprise considering that Gotham hasn't been at its most fabulous - in terms of ratings, at least - this season.
