Denver agrees to deal with Isaiah Thomas

Free-agent guard Isaiah Thomas agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday. Thomas regained some of his offensive pop during his brief run with the Lakers, averaging 15.6 points per contest and shooting nearly 40 percent, but was shut down when his ailing hip flared up late in the year.

According to Wojnarowski, Thomas recently got together with Nuggets coach Michael Malone and president of basketball operations Tim Connelly in Las Vegas to discuss his potential place in the club's plans. Thomas' injuries continued to hamper him and he played poorly when healthy, shooting just 36 percent from the floor in 15 games. He was traded to Cleveland last summer along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a pair of picks for Kyrie Irving. He's averaged 18.9 points per game. In two-and-a-half seasons with Boston, the 5-foot-9 guard averaged 24.7 points and 6.0 assists per game. Thomas averaged 29 points for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-17 season, a second-team All-NBA season that appeared to be clearing the way for a long-term, $100 million contract. 14th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.
