Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is heading to the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported on Sunday.

Entering his 16th National Basketball Association season, James had been with the Cavs for 11 of them with a four-year break at the Miami Heat in 2010-2014. "LeBron's connection to Akron, Cleveland and all of Northeast Ohio will most certainly endure as his commitment to the region and his support of many important causes has been impactful to so many kids and families".

LeBron James is going to be a Laker.

"LeBron James, four time NBA MVP, three-time NBA finals MVP, 14-time NBA All-Star, and two-time Olympic gold medallist, has agreed to a four-year $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers", James' management company Klutch Sports Group said in a statement.

The Lakers haven't made the playoffs in five years.

Jordan, Mavs agree to one-year deal
The big man was deliberating over the decision until Friday's deadline where he had to inform the franchise of his choice. After having a successful rookie season, Smith Jr. could develop into a Chris Paul type player with Jordan around.

In the end, James believed it was the right situation for him.

The likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler are all expected to hit the open market and the California-based outfit wants to be big players next year too. After one year with the Thunder, George liked the organization enough to re-sign there on a four-year deal instead of joining the Lakers. They need a name on front of the Staples Center to make the building crackle and 41 nights of LaVar and Lonzo Ball still left them miles from the Golden State Warriors.

But James has been to eight straight National Basketball Association finals. One of the bigger characters in the NBA, Stephenson has carved out a niche for himself as a great perimeter defender, energy player, and secondary playmaker for the Indiana Pacers. James, had he chose to stay, could have inked a five-year, $207 million deal with the Cavs. The Lakers have been planning for this offseason for years, shedding cap space in order to sign two of the top free agents.

Gilbert went on to say the team wish James "nothing but the best in the years and decades ahead" and also said they looked forward to someday retiring the star's number 23 jersey. The Lakers would surely still love to land Leonard to give them two bonafide stars and a shot at contending for a championship this year.

Last season, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game and shot 38.3 percent from beyond the arc. "This will always be home".
