Magnificent Mary Kom rewrites history books with sixth World Boxing title

Moments after Mary Kom became the most successful boxer in the history of women's world championships by beating Ukraine's Hanna Okhota in an unanimous 5-0 verdict in the 48kg category summit bout, young Sonia Chahal settled for a silver medal after losing her final. Her last world title came eight years ago in 2010 and since then she has not won a medal at the World Championships.

With this, "Magnificent Mary" also matched Cuban legend Felix Savon as the joint most successful pugilist (men and women) in the Championships history.

The Manipur-based athlete now holds a remarkable tally of six gold medals and a silver.
