The Spice Girls will kick off a six-date United Kingdom stadium tour in June next year in Manchester as a four-piece without Victoria Beckham.

Theakston read out details published in The Sun newspaper, which claimed that the group - Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Horner - will share a secretly-filmed video to launch their return tour.

It is not known why Victoria Beckham will not be joining the reunion tour. They were photographed earlier this year hatching plans, but according to the BBC, Beckham is sitting out this round of dates to focus on her fashion companies.

Geri Horner, 46, and Mel C, 44, took to their official Twitter and Facebook accounts to announce the highly anticipated roadshow, which is set to kick off in Manchester on June 1.

"The girls aren't going on tour", Beckham said during New York Fashion Week. They go on sale this Saturday (10 November) at 10.30am.

While the stars will showcase their many hits from yesteryear on the tour, they'll be joined by one of today's chart-toppers, as Jess Glynne has been announced as their guest on the tour.

And Mel has now admitted she was the one who pulled the plug on the tour because of difficulties in her marriage to now ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.

"I'm not going on tour".

Mel B hinted at the tour minus Beckham last week on Halloween when she went dressed as her with the placard 'No I am not going on tour'.

It's been well over 20 years since the 90s girl band released the single "Wannabe" and left many of us arguing over whether we were Sporty, Baby, Ginger, Scary or Posh.

After months of rumours following the group's meeting in February this year, Geri, Emma, Mel C and Mel B have confirmed they will play six stadium shows next year.
