The key play in the Bears' 24-10 victory over the Vikings in the regular-season finale would have been ideal, but for one small detail.

Foles tied Philip Rivers' NFL record by completing 25 straight passes and threw two touchdown passes before a chest injury forced him out of the game. The Eagles have won five of their last six games.

If not, the Vikings (8-6-1) would be the likeliest opponent for the Bears (11-4) in the wild-card round next week. Because the Bears beat the Rams at Soldier Field a few weeks ago, they own the tiebreaker over L.A.

The results ensured that the Eagles would grab the last spot in the NFC's postseason tournament while sparing them the embarrassment of becoming the first defending National Football League champion since the 2016 Denver Broncos to not make the playoffs in the subsequent season.

Nick Foles #9 of the Philadelphia Eagles scrambles from the pocket during the first half of a game against the Los Angeles Rams at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on December 16, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. The slow start, the underwhelming stat line (20 of 33 for 132 yards and one touchdown) and the kerfuffle on the sidelines with Adam Thielen. They showed more urgency than a team that faced a win-and-you're-in de facto playoff game.

Jones KOs Gustafsson in UFC return to reclaim light heavyweight belt
Nunes (17-4) was thought to be an undersized underdog, but she seized her second title belt by overwhelming her fellow Brazilian. Come get a taste. "I'll be waiting right here". "Every time he opens his mouth, it works against him".

Japan to resume commercial whaling after IWC withdrawal
And with an aging and shrinking population, the question is whether any whaling industry would even be commercially sustainable. The manner in which the government has chose to restart commercial whale hunts also raises some questions.

Shutdown Cuts Christmas Vacation Short for Federal Employees
The House and Senate briefly gaveled into session on Christmas Eve before quickly closing again with no further action. Capitol is shown during a partial shutdown of the federal government on December 24, 2018 in Washington, DC.

The Vikings will miss the playoffs with a loss against the Bears. Nagy says despite needing to win on Sunday, they will not risk playing anyone who isn't ready.

The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up the top seed in the AFC playoffs with an emphatic 35-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders, in which Patrick Mahomes made his final case for NFL Most Valuable Player by throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson finished 12-for-27 for 91 yards, four sacks and an interception. Aided by a 4th-and-1 conversion by Dalvin Cook, the quarterback hit Stephon Diggs for a 2-yard score to make it 13-10. Ultimately, you can't give a Mitchell Trubisky run offense 24 points-the Bears offense just isn't that good.

Scoreboard watching. Even though it would have been more relaxing to know ahead of time where the Vikings stood going into this game, it is more exciting (and nerve wracking) to have all the games with playoff relevance being played at the same time.

The Bears had a couple delay of games-one on the fake-non-fake punt and another thanks to the crowd noise. It had its fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season last week against Detroit, with no turnovers. "We know we're going against a really good team". Vikings linebackers Anthony Barr and Eric Wilson struggled to come off blocks and had a hard time stopping Jordan Howard.
