The twists and turns keep coming in the public on-again off-again courtship between the Washington Nationals and free agent outfielder Bryce Harper.

Chicago became the first team to formally offer Machado a contract, according to USA Today, which cited four people with knowledge of the offer who spoke on condition of anonymity.

However, if the Phillies, Chicago White Sox, or some other team were to offer, say, a full 10-year deal at or above $400 million total value, such security would likely prove hard to turn down. The Dodgers still have plenty of moves to make this off-season but which route they take will depend on if they can bring the crown jewel of this year's free agency back to Los Angeles. This new rumor has the Sox making an offer to free agent superstar Manny Machado. However, the 26-year-old infielder has long held a desire to one day play for the New York Yankees.
