A set of renders allegedly showing what this rumoured "iPhone XI" will look like were obtained by tech site Digit.

Apple may be adding a third camera to the iPhone, and this it how it might look.

The assembly will also include an LED flash and rear facing microphone. It's still too early to deliver a final verdict on the fate of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR, but it's now been confirmed that Apple will launch three new phones this year, continuing the current lineup.

The published images reveal a square camera module that contains three cameras.

Putting all the unappealing visual factors aside, we can not ignore the fact that Apple is jumping onto the triple-camera setup as early as this year. The cameras and LED flash are arranged in a squircle positioned in the top left corner of the phone. Tipster Onleaks partnered with Digit.in has shared what appear to be the first renders of Apple's next flagship device, the iPhone XI.

A recent Bloomberg story mentioned that Apple is interested in Sony's new ToF sensors.

OnLeaks says that the 2019 iPhones are still in the Engineering Validation Test stage, which means that there can be changes before the devices launch later this year. Apple's likely to launch three variants of the iPhone in 2019: one low-end model and two high-end models.

It's also unclear what the third camera's objective will be, but Bloomberg has previously reported that Apple was interested in acquiring 3D camera sensors from Sony.

The ToF or Time of Flight technology is based on the time it takes for light to bounce off an object to create a 3D map.

Coming back to the leaked render of the iPhone XI, the image shows the same black glass back with Apple's shiny logo at the center and the word "iPhone" written at the bottom.
